Commissioned by Pat, Danielle, & Marc
for Diane Eves, Hamilton, NJ

Update 12/28/05: Here is Diane's extra special Christmas gift. Her daughter Danielle will be sewing on pearls and crystals for water bubbles in the wake waves of their Dani Marc sailboat. Diane's son Marc will braid tiny ropes out of quilting thread for the spinnaker lines. When it's all done, Pat will make a custom frame and the family will hang in on their sailboat during the summer months and in their ski house during the winter time.

Stage 7: Time for the Eves to 'live with' their personalize artwork and think about what else should go into the portrait of their sailboat. Marc's Pram? A bi-plane?

Stages 4 & 5: The sailboat is FIRST quilted and trapuntoed, THEN painted in. Pat has to decide if the spinnaker he designed for their Catalina 34 Mark II is Bubble Gum Pink or Fuschia. He's going to send me some of the left over sailcloth. (After my 2nd world cruise...)

Stage 6: Detail painting and embroidery. For a while there, Pat and Diane were sailing naked! Above in Stage 7, Pat's now wearing his trademark orange bathing suit, sunnies, and favorite Mountain Dew Green hat. He's toasting his bride with a glass of red wine. Diane's long blond hair streams out in the wind. She's wearing her 'hotest' silver metalic bathing suit.

Stages 2 & 3: After painting in the background sky and foreground bay, I sketched in the Eves sailboat and the lighthouse.
