Materials: cotton & sheer fabrics, eye glasses,
beads, post-it note, recycled computer monitor on/off switch.
Techniques: machine quilted, appliquéd, beading & embellished.
Statement: “Version 1.1: Red
I” is visual interplay on the term ‘red
eye’ and actual red
letter i’s. There is a single eye with a red
pupil imposed over the computer screen. To much time in
front of it and we all get ‘red eye’.
There’s a pair of prescription eyeglasses draped on the monitor
since we all seem to need a special set just to deal with the eyestrain
of reading our email.
The red framed eyeglasses that are draped over the upper right corner of the computer monitor are dime-store magnifying glasses that quilters depend on for hand quilting and embellishment. There is a real On/Off switch recycled from a computer.
The letter beads spelling out Terminal Eyestrain and Red Eye attach the chain to the eyeglasses. Don't you love the post-it reminder for the eye doctor appointment?
