"Terminal Eyestrain Version 1.1: Red I" 10”w x 8.5”h x ”d © September 2003 Update 11/9/04 "TE V1.1" will be on exhibit at: "Extreme Quilts", Grants Pass Museum of Art Grants Pass, OR, November 2004 Materials: cotton & sheer fabrics, eye glasses,
beads, post-it note, recycled computer monitor on/off switch. |
| Each letter 'i'
and occurrence of the work 'eye'
has been embroidered in red.
The red pupil is
a sheer fabric machine appliquéd over the cotton fabric so that the
cross word puzzle shows through. Words on the puzzle include Computer Eye Strain, Quilt, and Appliqué. The red framed eyeglasses that are draped over the upper right corner of the computer monitor are dime-store magnifying glasses that quilters depend on for hand quilting and embellishment. There is a real On/Off switch recycled from a computer. The letter beads spelling out Terminal Eyestrain and Red Eye attach the chain to the eyeglasses. Don't you love the post-it reminder for the eye doctor appointment? |
